Daruma Doll In Japan, the Daruma doll is a powerful symbol of resilience and focus. With its rounded shape designed to spring back up when tipped, it embodies the Japanese proverb “fall down seven times, stand up eight.” Traditionally, one eye is colored in when setting a goal and the other only when it's achieved—making each Daruma a deeply personal commitment to perseverance, discipline, and staying true to your path.

We collaborated with the skilled tattoo artist Iva (@ivatattoo), owner of @rozatiger.tattoo, for these designs. She is also a big fan of all things Japan-related and specializes in Japanese motifs. We designed the Daruma Doll drawing (as well as our other designs) that can be engraved on your knife. Simply add this engraving service to your cart together with the knife you would like to engrave.

We can engrave any knife, though we recommend selecting one without damascus pattern or tsuchime finish, as engravings appear most clearly on plain, polished (migaki or kuro-uchi) blades.

How to Order an Engraving:

1. Add this engraving item to your cart with the knife you wish to engrave.
2. Once we receive your order, we’ll send you a preview of the engraving on your chosen knife. Since the design placement must be adjusted based on the size and width of the blade, your confirmation will be required before we proceed.
3. After we receive your final approval, the engraving will be completed. Please allow an additional 2 business days for the engraving process.
